The Singapore Sling was created at Raffles Hotel before 1915 by Hainanese Bartender Ngiam Tong Boon. It has become a favourite with Patrons of The Long Bar where it all began.
The world famous cocktail "Sling"was created around 1910 when Singapore was still a British Crown Colony.
the folk tale has it that the Sling was the British Colonials'challenge for a concoction to stealthily sink the ladies' guard as they sip the sweet and appealing redish cocktail.
The pineapple juice and Grenadine certainly masked the coming sting of the Gin,Cherry brandy, and Benedictine. So be warned as you bring home this uniqute taste of Singapore!!!
